THE VEIL OF SECRECY DESTROYING LIVES

DESTROYING LIVES

My name is Trevor Hooper, and I am here to share my experience of being a survivor of childhood trauma. Every year, hundreds and thousands of innocent souls are affected by childhood abuse at a tender age. Such abuse leads to a lifelong of negative emotions that include guilt, shame, hatred and self-doubt. In my case, it even prevented me from going back to my home. I used to live on the streets and remained dejected and helpless for quite a long time.

As a survivor of childhood abuse and trauma, I wish to share my recovery journey and process with you. I have formulated a 12-step plan that includes various activities and mental exercises. This comprehensive plan will help the trauma victims to get rid of the negative emotions and start afresh.

I realize that there are 200,000,000 children a year worldwide other people like me who have been subjected to abuse as a child. The first five steps are given hereunder:

Step 1: It Is Not Your Mistake

The primary step in the recovery journey is to stop pinning responsibility on oneself for whatever took place. It most certainly was not your fault that you were subjected to abuse as a child. You should only be proud of yourself that you survived it and are now trying to recover from it. If someone is to be blamed, it is the person who inflicted such abuse on you. It is for the criminal justice system to ensure that such people are punished and/or penalized for their acts.

Step 2: Feeling of Grief-Related Emotions

To undergo abuse and trauma at such a young age certainly isn’t easy. The person is bound to experience a range of negative emotions. However, one must not lose hope in the face of adversity. Such negative feelings are bound to surface and it is completely fine to experience the same. Such emotions work in a 5-step manner. Beginning with denial, they move through rage, bargaining, sadness and culminate with acceptance.

There are numerous other emotions that surface along with the above mentioned emotions. These include Violation, rage, contempt, lack of trust, confidence, self-love, and increase in self-hatred, etc.

A victim must realize that like all other things in the world, such feelings too shall pass. You must hang on your inner spirit and have a sense of self-belief. Our recovery process will help you in getting rid of such negative emotions and live positively.

Step 3: You’re Not Alone

The third step in this journey towards happiness and normalcy is to understand that you are not alone. Yes, it is extremely sad that you met with such fate, but you are not the only one. There are thousands of people who experience similar incidents. But, you must realize that this isn’t the end of the world & there is much more in store for you.

Step 4: Realize That You’re A Good Person

As mentioned earlier, you are bound to experience negative emotions. At times, people end up losing their confidence and identity to such emotions. You might start feeling that you are a bad and miserable person. However, that’s not true. Throughout the duration of our course, we will make you undertake several activities and workshops. These will help you in realizing and bringing out the goodness in you.

Step 5: Realizing That There’s A Life Beyond This Trauma

Finally, it’s important to come to terms with the fact that experiencing trauma isn’t the end of the world. Life certainly has much more to offer and there’s a life beyond this world of trauma as well. Our course will help you in making a smooth transition into a life beyond trauma & help you start afresh.
