Key Steps to Prepare for the UPSC exam

Mentioned below are the important points that an aspirant must take into consideration while preparing for the UPSC examination.

  • Timetable: Make a timetable according to the time that is left for the examination. Start following it at your own pace. Making a timetable and accomplishing the goals set for the day helps to boost the confidence level.
  • Understand the syllabus: Properly comprehend the syllabus and mark the important topics. Revise them every day for better results.
  • Newspaper reading/current affairs for IAS: More than half of the questions asked in the Civil Service Examination are from current affairs. Newspaper reading is very important to keep track of what is happening in the country as well as worldwide.
  • Making notes: Notes are very important because the more you write, the more you learn. Notes should have concise points, which make the learning process more efficient and productive.
  • Mock tests and previous years’ questions: These help to understand the exam pattern and learn time management skills. Solving previous years’ question papers makes you feel more confident.
  • Government resources: Stick to government resources, as they are factual and not biased. Staying limited when it comes to resources is important; otherwise, learning becomes confusing.
  • Revision: It is one of the most important parts because, in this, you recall what all you have learnt till now. Keep the pointer of the gaps so that you can focus on them. Try to revise the important topics every day till the day of the examination.
