4 Types of Cranes to Consider For Your Company

Whether you’re shipping or manufacturing, you may have a lot of heavy lifting to do. For larger-scale operations, dollies and forklifts can’t come close to cutting it. A crane is in your future, but which makes sense for you and your business?

Jib Crane

These cranes have a single arm, sometimes fitted with a trolley track to transport the workload along its length. The arm itself may move up and down or side to side. The arm is attached to a mast or counterweight, which is typically a permanent column.

These tend to only service one workspace, as their potential range of motion is limited to around the mast.

Monorail Crane

It is, essentially, a trolley track attached to a permanent overhead beam. It can only lift and transport material from one end of the beam to the other. But depending on your operation and setup, less may be more. The range of motion is limited compared to other options, but it can still carry workloads over long distances.

Bridge Crane

A bridge crane is a beam set on a track and can be moved from one end of the room to another. The beam has a trolley so the hoist can be positioned nearly anywhere in the room where the crane is installed. If you need a large range of motion, bridge cranes Chattanooga are your best option.

Gantry Crane

Similar to both the monorail and bridge cranes, gantry cranes are beams with trolley tracks. They tend to not be as heavy-duty as either option and run smaller. However, the support beams are fitted with wheels, making them movable so they can be transferred between stations or tasks that they’re needed for.

No matter how large or small your business is, a crane may be what you need to keep things running smoothly.
